YOUR CHANCE TO PERFORM IN PIED PIPER AT THE BARBICAN THIS CHRISTMAS WITH BOY BLUE ENT

Read on for your chance to train and perform with Boy Blue Entertainment for their award winning show Pied Piper at The Barbican Theatre, London, 9 December 2009 – 3 January 2010!

WHAT?

Following a successful run earlier this year in the Barbican Theatre, the Olivier Award-winning hip-hop street dance spectacular, Pied Piper by Boy Blue Entertainment, returns this Christmas (Thursday 10 December 2009 – Sunday 3 January 2010) due to popular demand for a four-week run. The show was originally produced by Theatre Royal Stratford East in 2006 where it thrilled sell-out houses. This time, Boy Blue Entertainment and Barbican Education run a programme which will give London’s young people the opportunity to perform in the production at the Barbican Theatre, offering them an exceptional professional experience.

In September and October Boy Blue Entertainment will go into 25 London schools to run hip-hop and street dance workshops for nearly 4,000 10 to 13 year-olds. The schools are located in 13 London boroughs and one County Council; Barking and Dagenham, Camden, City of Westminster, Croydon, Hackney, Islington, Lambeth, Lewisham, Newham, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets, Wandsworth, Waltham Forest, and Essex.

Following the workshops, Boy Blue Entertainment will hold three open auditions to find 60 children from any of the boroughs to play the ‘Children of Hamelin’. Pupils from each of the 25 schools are also invited to audition for a part in the show and Boy Blue Entertainment hopes to cast some of the 60 children needed from these schools. The final round of auditions will take place on the Barbican Theatre stage, giving the hopefuls an idea of the scale of the production.

The Pied Piper is played by Kenrick ‘H2O’ Sandy, choreographer and co-founder of Boy Blue Entertainment. Sandy said: “It’s important for youth today to get involved in something where they can express themselves. I am particularly passionate about this project, because we will get the chance to get out to kids in their own environment and encourage them face to face. As dancers Pied Piper still inspires us and we want to give as many young people as possible their chance of a professional and challenging experience. These could be the Boy Blue dancers of the future.”

As part of the Pied Piper Show you will be one of the ‘children of Hamelin’, who are taken away by the Pied Piper and trained up to be the Pied Piper’s apprentices. You will be involved in 2 main sections which are: Kids in the Town and the Pied Piper Finale.

You will be required to do a weeks worth of shows which may vary depending on which group you are in plus, the opportunity to perform with the full 60+ kids on the last show.
